Overview
The Jamacho Day Hike in Kathmandu is an ideal option if you don’t have much time but still want to spend a peaceful day in nature. It’s just a few minutes’ drive to Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, Fulbari Gate, where the hike begins.
Trail
The Jamacho Day Hike in Kathmandu passes through a dense forest and is moderately steep in some sections. It takes approximately 3 hours to reach the top, and about 2 hours to return.
Jamacho Monastery (Gumba)
A small and peaceful Buddhist monastery at the top, adorned with colourful Tibetan prayer flags, offers a spiritual and serene atmosphere.
Panoramic Views
On clear days, you can see Ganesh Himal, the Langtang Range, and a wide, breathtaking view of the Kathmandu Valley.
Flora & Fauna
Since it lies within a national park, the area is home to monkeys, birds, butterflies, and other wild forest animals. During spring, you can also see seasonal flowers like rhododendrons blooming along the trail.

Drive Phulbari gate and hike to Jamacho
At 8 AM, the guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you to Phulbari Gate. From there, you will obtain the necessary permits and begin the hike to Jamacho. After reaching Jamacho and spending some time there, you will return to Phulbari Gate and drive back to the hotel.
